New battery.

Replying to Joules and Jay. Starter was sounding slow and battery voltage was reading 12.4. On line chat about early AGM batteries lasting 7 to 8 years but life expectancy now 3 to 5. Might have lasted a while longer but didn’t want the hassle of a battery swap mid-season. Always hooked up to a CTEK charger.

New battery

Internet search shows 200cca unit as original fitment for V7iii. Car was fitted with a 230cca Magneti Marelli unit. Could have been an expensive mistake. Struggled to fit retaining bolt for positive cable to new Yuasa. Ended up making new cable clamp to provide a bit more slack. Belt and braces cable ties to supplement Velcro retaining strap.

I replaced my battery with an Odessey Extreme AGM15L 13Ah. Which fits if you mount it on its side. This is perfectly acceptable as its gel type. Much better cranking power.

Brake fluid change

V-Sport no 26 uses LHM brake fluid which is a whole different ball game. Dot 4 would wreck the seals. The owners manual doesn’t list a fluid change in the Maintenance Table. Interested to see how this thread develops.

That's a very valid point Iain. The T24 uses Dot 4, but check your car documentation for the recommeneded fluid.

Brake Fluid change

Coming up on 2yrs with our T24 and the brake fluid is getting darker. Brake fluid change is something I haven't ever done. Is it best to get it done at somewhere that does brake fluid chganges e.g Kwik Fit (also dispose of old fluid), or learn to DIY as hopefully I will be doing this at least 5 more times. Recommended tooling for DIY ? Remember we all started from a point of not knowing.

Just been down to Halfords and picked up these, hopefully 500ml is more than enough to purge and fill the system just under £30 for the above.
