V-Sport no 26. Exhaust

Deleted recent post - couldn’t get photo to load. Small crack in pipe at 6k miles at the junction where it’s welded to the balance pipe that runs across the front of the car. Waiting for my mobile welder to let me know if he can sort it.

End of Season Fuel

Whilst we still have a bit of good weather about I have been running the T24 on E5 fuel. Getting ready for winter layup when the time comes. After doing some research it appears having E5 petrol in the tank is a much wiser choice than regular E10. This being down to the ethanol content being hydroscopic and will pull in more moisture during it standing. E10 is also a bit more harsh on ppes and seals. This is purely my own opinion, but consider laying up with E5 in the tank, the extra octane doesn't hurt performance as an added benefit.

Rumour has it, Esso E5 containes little to no ethanol. Government in there wisdom gave fuel suppliers only two fuel options E5 and E10, E5 being upto 5%...

Recovering from Scratch

The mirror finish and painted car brigade may wish to abandon reading the post at this point.

As is inevitable our cars will pick up scratches and combat marks along the way. Today's was self inflicted by being careless, I put a scratch on the mudguard with a piece of metal I was moving. I have also used this method for dealing with grit and stone marks.

If it's a scratch and not a ding or gouge, you can use a polished bar of steel, in this case a round of tool steel. Clean the area and roll the scratch to push material back into it and smooth out the surface. Don't go mad as you can end up making it bumpy.

Once you have it rolled smooth, so your finger nail doesn't catch a burr, move onto polishing it. This will take out some of the marks from rolli…
